Since I stopped working I’ve noticed that my daily step count has plummeted. I used to regularly clock up 12,000 steps a day, now I struggle to do 6,000 (and that includes giving the whippets their daily walk)! Pretty amazing considering I had a desk job, but I guess all those walks to the coffee machine and the photocopier added up.
Therefore, I have set myself the goal of achieving the steps target on my Garmin Vivoactive everyday in August. At the moment the target is a shamefully low 5,870, but as I keep achieving this will go up as the month goes on.
It’s not even as if I’m particularly inactive, I go to the gym at least 3 times a week to Spin and I swim, but I guess neither of these activities bump up my step count. However, I did start the Couch 2 5k programme (again) on Tuesday, so I’m sure this will help.
Wish me luck!
I am the same way! At home, it seems like I hardly move but at work I get way more steps. I guess it is walking in and out of the office and to the bathroom that does it!
