It’s fair to say that my half marathon training is going a little better than my attempts to lose my holiday weight gain!
I’ve reached week 3 of the Couch 2 5k plan and I am now running 3 minutes at a time, interspersed with lots of walking breaks. In fact, I’ve reached the stage of the plan where I’ve given up on previous attempts, so it’s vital that this time I keep going. I have every faith that I will, as I have no sign of injury and have a running buddy this time, in the form of my Mum.
Now, about my weight …… I put on three pounds after my birthday trip to Norfolk and whilst I’ve had a loss at Slimming World each week since I’ve still only lost half of this gain – oopps!
Why does it come off so much more slowly than it goes on? Well it could be because I spend my weekends (and many of my weeks) on the quest for yummy vegan food. For instance, this weekend we visited a vegan festival in Cirencester and I just had to try the goodies on offer – such as a vegan cream tea, pies and fudge.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother to keep throwing money at a Slimming Club when I lose so slowly, and more often than not I put any weight I’ve lost back on when I go on holiday. However, I realise the answer is simple enough:
- I’m an eternal optimist;
- If nothing else, the weigh-in stops me gaining;
- When I want to pull my finger out and lose more quickly I know I have all the support I need at group;
- Even half a pound a week is almost 2 stone a year, so taking the scenic route doesn’t have to mean failure.
Having said all this – I’m hoping for a bigger loss this week at club (despite the cream tea and pies) what did I say – I’m an eternal optimist.
Wish me luck!
fingers crossed 🙂
