What a difference a month makes … 720 little hours …

What a crazy few weeks it has been. The last time I blogged, on the 2nd of March, I had just completed The Vitality Half Marathon in London. An event that was attended by over 15,000 runners and many, many spectators and supporters. After the run, competitors and their families crowded together in the Expo…

That time I ran a half-marathon with no training…

Back in July 2019, I signed up for the Vitality Big Half in London.  Convinced that, by March 2020, I’d be a size 10 and capable of running half-marathons in my sleep.  Of course, when the event did come along, I was the same size as when I signed up and the furthest I’d run/walked…

A proper pain in the …..

Whilst I can’t claim to have given up the Christmas cake or the salted peanuts quite yet, I have done rather well at keeping up with my running training over the Christmas period, something I am rather proud about.  Therefore, it is with much wailing and gnashing of teeth that I have to admit that…

You know it’s Christmas when …

…. the person weighing at Slimming World congratulates you on your half a pound gain!  Although I confess this isn’t the full story as I put on 2.5lbs at last week’s weigh in, so a total Christmas/New Year weight gain of 3lbs.  I can live with that as I’ve had a great Christmas, eating and…

Keep on running …..

It’s fair to say that my half marathon training is going a little better than my attempts to lose my holiday weight gain! I’ve reached week 3 of the Couch 2 5k plan and I am now running 3 minutes at a time, interspersed with lots of walking breaks.  In fact, I’ve reached the stage…

Half-marathon training and the dreaded post holiday weigh-in!

Last week on holiday I made some really positive decisions, such as signing up for a half-marathon which I’ll run in the Spring of 2020, but I also made some less positive (negative?!) decisions, such as to mainline wine and chips and mushy peas!  This week has been about the consequences of these decisions, namely…

From Vegan Junk Food Junkie to Half-Marathoner?

In years gone by I was a bit of a runner.  In fact, between 2009 and 2014 I ran countless 5k’s, eleven 10k’s, nine half-marathons and even a duathlon.  I never quite reached the holy grail of 10 minute miles (which seemed to be what to aim for to be respected by my running chums)…

Small steps, big results?

Since I stopped working I’ve noticed that my daily step count has plummeted.  I used to regularly clock up 12,000 steps a day, now I struggle to do 6,000 (and that includes giving the whippets their daily walk)!  Pretty amazing considering I had a desk job, but I guess all those walks to the coffee…

Re:cycling

If life is full of contrasts then nothing illustrates this more than the amount of exercise I did before the Bank Holiday and that I did after.  As they say, I have gone from “hero to zero”. It all started with an upsetting doctors appointment on Tuesday morning.  Totally out of nowhere (well obviously not…

Couch to 5k and our Bank Holiday ‘adventures’

It’s fair to say that my running has dropped off since last year.  In fact, I had just started some rudimentary training for a spring half marathon in December 2018 when I found out I was pregnant and dropped the strenuous exercise, then alas the pregnancy wasn’t to be and so running was the last…
